Sep 04 · by Anne Dovel

“Weekend Challenge: It’s time to take back control of your mind so you can take back your life! Stop letting other people influence your attitude, your hope for the future & your potential to do something great. Stop letting the media influence your health choices, relationship outlook, business expectations & spending habits. What might you have given up control over & how can you take it back?”

from Darren Hardy at Success Magazine.

Thanks to Darren Hardy for always asking the questions that get me thinking about how I can work to improve my life and who I am and who I could be. What am I allowing to influence my actions and is it a positive or negative influence?

By the way..I highly recommend Success Magazine. Subscribe to it. I devour each issue as soon as they come. And now my husband and boys read it so subscribed again so we get 2 copies! This issue is about Potential and it’s a must read. Whether you are building a business or not, Success Magazine has articles and tips that will make you think about your life. It’s helped me be a better mom even although my boys might argue about that…among other things!

Enjoy the holiday weekend.

Consistency Pays Off!

Sep 03 · by Anne Dovel

Four coaches have sent me their earnings report and said I could share them.

Coach #1-This coach works a full-time job and is simply consistent with the few hours a week they have to build their Beachbody business and it is adding up to incredible success. These are weekly commissions/bonuses represented here and is a good example of how you will do more work at the beginning for less income and as you continue to build, that flips and you earn more income for less time. It’s what I love about this business. They aren’t working more hours in 2010 than 2008. They are leveraging their same time by helping others do the same thing.  Is it worth it to stick to your business through thick and thin? This coach thinks so!

Week of Sept 1, 2008 – $59.59
Week of Sept 1, 2009 – $186.00
Week of Sept 1, 2010 – $1529.00 This is one week’s earnings. And the ball is rolling. This number will be far more than double next year!

Coach #2 – They work a full-time management job, but have put in 2-3 hours a week consistently for 3 years. Their income now is $3,000 a month with their Beachbody business.

Coach #3 – Worked full-time + over-time at their job. Did Beachbody in spare time. Consistently. This coach doesn’t go out to do Beachbody, they do Beachbody while they are out. Their income is now $3,750 a month with their Beachbody business.

Coach #4 – Works their Beachbody business off and on for last 2 years. They make $950 a month with their Beachbody business.

Most people would be happy if they had an extra $50 in their wallet. Look at these few examples from my team. Just getting fit and sharing it with others.

You ready to get started?

Anne

*These are actual amounts from real coaches in my team.

Aug 31 · by Anne Dovel

For the month of September, I will be adding a new quote a day from Zig Ziglar. We heard him speak many times years ago and he made an indelible impression on me.

So enjoy a new quote each day, starting tomorrow.

Favorite Easy Soup

Aug 21 · by Anne Dovel

This is a very simple soup that I’ve made for years and always gets polished off by the family. As soups often do, this one tastes even better the 2nd day.

Hamburger Soup
Serve this soup all year long!

1/2 pound lean ground beef               1 cup whole kernel corn, optional
1 onion, chopped                                1/4 cup brown rice, optional
3 stalks celery, diced                          4-6 cups water
4 potatoes, cubed                               1 large bay leaf
3 carrots, diced                                   2-3 teaspoons salt
2 cups chopped cabbage                    1 T. Worcestershire Sauce, optional
2 16-oz cans tomatoes                       black pepper to taste

I always brown the onion and hamburger together and rinse the grease off. Actually, I use the leanest ground turkey I can find instead of hamburger most of the time, unless we have local farm-raised beef in the freezer. Then I throw all the rest of the ingredients in, adding more water if necessary so it’s not too thick. Simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours.  Remove the bay leaf before serving.  You can also throw this in a crockpot like I did the other day. I think I put it all together at 11:30 am. Turned on high for an hour and then turned to low until dinnertime.

Now, I don’t always have this exact list of ingredients! Yesterday I threw in a bag of baby carrots that were past their prime to eat raw and I was out of cabbage. In fact yesterday’s soup included a can of beans, a cup of leftover roasted garlic spaghetti sauce and no corn. Although…I do love to throw a handful of frozen corn in when I have it.

Cookie time!

Aug 20 · by Anne Dovel

My 9 year old is a Cub Scout and we got to make cookies today! We made Molasses Crinkles and it’s just a good thing I got my workout in today, because that dough was mighty tasty…just a bite.. :)   Most cookies I make now have oil instead of butter. I made the switch years ago when I was trying to cut out saturated fat for Dave’s cholesterol. And I really haven’t gone back to keeping butter around, although that doesn’t mean I don’t like it! :) Some things just don’t change. But here is the recipe that many are clamoring for since I posted a picture on Facebook.  There is a time for cookies. Just don’t eat the whole batch. Plan ahead. I planned for 2 cookies! And I ate them! :)  If you make 48 cookies in this batch, each cookie is 58 Cals and 3 grams of fat.

Molasses Crinkles
They’re thick and chewy with crackled tops.

Molasses Crinkles

1/2 cup oil (I use Canola)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
1 cup unbleached flour  (I recommend Wheat Montana if you can find it)
1 cup whole wheat flour (I use all whole wheat flour because I grind my own)
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Sugar

Mix oil, sugar, egg, and molasses until fluffy.  Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Chill dough. (Whatever..I never chill the dough! lol) Shape into walnut-size balls. Dip tops in sugar. Place sugar-side up on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, just until set, but not hard.

I copied the recipe pretty much as it is. As noted, I usually use all whole wheat flour. Or I’ll mix flours like spelt, amaranth, etc. It’s really good if you put a little bit of blackstrap molasses in with the regular. I also use a medium cookie scoop, which is why I don’t refrigerate the dough. I scoop it out, roll in sugar and bake.

Soup hit the spot!

Aug 19 · by Anne Dovel

I was just about to start my workout this morning, Turbo Fire 55, when Dave came in and told me I needed to move any plants I wanted to keep next to the old garage foundation because the guy was coming to remove the concrete and move dirt around. No problem! That would only take a few minutes. Well, one thing led to another..to another..

So it is now 7:22 pm. I came in only 45 minutes ago after a day of working outside. My shoulders are shot. I’m exhausted! I’m going to do 10 minute stretch and call it a day! I did have a great Turbo Fire workout yesterday…HIIT 30 and my buns are nice and sore from that one! And since I ordered the upgrade package, I got the cool Turbo Tracker. Love it!

I just finished off a bowl of homemade veggie/burger soup! So good! Really just threw in a bunch of veggies, but I will type up the recipe later. It’s a favorite here and the boys never get tired of it. We don’t eat much soup in the summer..and I just felt like SOUP! It really hit the spot!

Tomatoes and Cottage Cheese

Aug 16 · by Anne Dovel

One of my favorite summertime meals is simply a freshly picked tomato, sliced and covered with lowfat cottage cheese. Fresh ground pepper on top. That’s it. I could eat that every lunch all summer long. It was one of my grandpa’s favorite meals.
Today I had that, plus a small piece of leftover grilled lean steak and a piece of whole grain toast.

And the tomato was a Black Krim, grown organically in my weedy garden! :)

Oh…Dave told me not to forget all the raspberries I ate out in the garden. I really did go out to pick them for everyone. Shame on me.
